Suppose I wanted to
play a song in the key of C-Lydian, I'll first look under the
"Lydian" column for C...and then write out the C-Lydian scale: C
- D - E - F# - G - A - B Next I'll make a list
of all chords in this scale...
|
C |
D |
E |
F# |
G |
A |
B |
|
(Major) |
(Major -
Dom7) |
(Minor) |
(Minor -
Dim5) |
(Major) |
(Minor) |
(Minor) |
|
I |
II |
III |
IV |
V |
VI |
VII |
So we have determined
that in the key of C-Lydian, we have the following chords:
- C major
- D dom7
- E minor
- F# dim
- G major
- A minor
- B minor
Now just use any chord
progression. Lets use the same chord progression that we used in
previous chapters:
I - III - IV - I - IV - I
- V - I
This will give us...
Cmajor
- Eminor
- F#dim - Cmajor
- F#dim - Cmajor
- Gmajor
- Cmajor
AND
THERE IS YOUR SONG IN THE KEY OF C-LYDIAN!!!
If you
want to solo over it, then just use the C-Lydian scale!
