NAMES OF THE STRINGS

 

If you don't know how to tune your guitar or if it isn't tuned like below, then you should simply search on Google for a free downloadable guitar tuner.

(note: at the time of this writing soft32.com has a nice free tuner)

Each string of the guitar is tuned to a certain note. When tuning each string to it's particular note, you must strike the string "open" without depressing it onto the fretboard.

 

The thinnest string is tuned to an E and is called a high-E and

The next string is tuned to the note of B

The next string is tuned to a G

The next string is tuned to a D

The next string is tuned to an A

The last "thickest" string is also tuned to an E but is called a low-E
